To understand Rotaract, you first have to know that Rotary International is our parent organization. Rotary is an international network of more than 1.2 million members worldwide, 7100+ professional clubs in 167 countries. Each club provides volunteer, networking, and social opportunities for local club members.
Rotary was founded in Chicago in 1905 by a man named Paul Harris who organized the club to be a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and build lifelong friendships. Over the years, youth programs like Rotaract young professionals and Interact (for even younger professionals ages 12-18) have been developed to train leaders in the community and ready them in their careers and social networking to become a respectable, notable Rotarian in their community, and worldwide.
Interact, Rotaract, and Rotary are free from religious, political, and profit motivation. Rotarians accept and respect fellow members for their mutual dedication to “Service Above Self”.
